Kennywood called it the "Kennywood 500", but for the PCTC members and fellow racing enthusiasts, it was a great way to spend quality time with the family and, at the same time, promote local racing in a very positive environment.

The race cars on display were a cross section of dirt and asphalt divisions, with a classic dragster and racing go karts added for good measure. We sincerely thank those who participated, because it was truly a spectacle and peaked the curiosity of many passersby.

Local racetracks were also represented and their pace trucks and cars were a special addition to the pace laps around the park when the drivers were instructed to "start your engines".

D.J. Rick Kohleer was there to provide music in the pavilion reserved for us.

The Park personnel were quick to provide for our every need and Kennywood has already committed to another Motorsports Day next May. The discounted "ride all day" and general admission tickets made it a more affordable family day and we thank Kennywood Park for their hospitality.

With the additional time for planning, we hope our next trip to Kennywood will be bigger and better than ever. Our gratitude to the organizers of this wonderful day: Don Rottman, Smokey Schempp and Bob McWilliams.

Thanks also to the members who helped to make tickets available by phone and at the area tracks, and helped with the placement of the race cars in the park.
