Criteria
and Induction Process for 2008
PURPOSE
The
purpose of the Pittsburgh Circle Track Club Hall of Fame is
to permanently recognize those individuals who have attained
significant accomplishments or provided significant long-term
contributions to Pittsburgh area auto racing.
ELIGIBILITY
Those
eligible for induction shall include drivers, car owners, mechanics,
sponsors, track officials, promoters, members of the media,
or any other individual who has attained such accomplishments
or provided such long-term contributions to Pittsburgh area
auto racing.
Those
eligible for induction may be retired or currently active individuals
who have attained such accomplishments or provided such long-term
contributions to Pittsburgh area auto racing.
Those
eligible for induction may have attained such accomplishments
within the Pittsburgh area directly or as a representative of
the Pittsburgh area in other arenas of auto racing.
Those
eligible for induction may have provided such contributions
to Pittsburgh area auto racing solely through activities of
the Pittsburgh Circle Track Club.
INDUCTION
Induction
into the Hall of Fame shall be determined by secret voting on
the official ballot of nominees by the Pittsburgh Circle Track
Club officers and the Hall of Fame Committee near the end of
each calendar year.
The
official ballot of nominees shall be established from properly
completed nomination forms by the Hall of Fame Committee.
The
official ballot of nominees shall consist of up to three deceased
candidates and up to ten living candidates selected from the
nomination forms by the Hall of Fame Committee.
The
official ballot shall be typed and include a brief description
of the nominees accomplishments or contributions to Pittsburgh
area auto racing.
The
official ballot shall be voted upon by a quorum of at least
75% of the officers and the Hall Of Fame Committee. A typed
list of the officers and the Hall of Fame Committee will be
attached to the ballot.
The
time and place for voting shall be made known to the officers
and board members in advance by the Hall of Fame Committee Chairman.
An absentee ballot shall be forwarded in advance for those unable
to attend the time and place of the voting.
Up to
one deceased candidate and up to three living candidates shall
be inducted each calendar year as determined by the Hall Of
Fame Committee according to the number of votes cast on the
ballot. A run off vote shall be used in the event of a tie.
The
inductees or family members of the inductee shall be notified
after voting and shall be announced to the club members and
public by any reasonable means.
NOMINATIONS
Any
current member of the Pittsburgh Circle Track Club may nominate
an individual for the Hall Of Fame by completing the official
nomination form and obtaining approval signatures of a majority
of the members of the Hall Of Fame Committee.
Nominees
from the official ballot that are not inducted based on the
voting process shall be retained on file and shall be considered
for five consecutive years total without submittal of additional
nominating forms.
Nominees
not placed on the official ballot by the Hall Of Fame Committee
shall be retained on file and shall be considered for five consecutive
years total without submittal of additional nominating forms.
Completed
and approved nomination forms shall be forwarded to the Chairman
of the Hall Of Fame Committee, Walt Wimer, 107 Willow Run Drive,
Butler, PA 16001-1239.
Completed
and approved nomination forms must be received by the First
of October each year.
